General guidelines for keeping your home cool and efficient:
- Have one of our Ft Worth TX heating and air repair team inspect and seal your central air ducts. Every time your unit comes on the duct work will expand and contract and at some point will develope leaks.
- Make it a top priority to replace your AC equipment’s air filters every month. And don’t buy the real cheap fiberglass type. They are too porous. Todays homes are seales better abd the air in your home does not get replaced as often, so you must filter it better.
- Get out the vacuum cleaner and clean the vents, baseboard heaters registers around the home. Look at the dust that accumulates, restricting air flow.
- Go to the hardware store and get a few cans of the expandable foam to seal any air leaks in the attic, basement and crawlspace, around doors and windows. Add weather striping at the bottom of exterior doors.
- Add insulation in the attic. Boost it to between R-22 and R-49.
- Keep shades or curtains drawn on the sunny side of the house, especially during early- and mid-afternoon hours.
